Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel 0.375L

An Auslese from the 2022 vintage, in which botrytis sweetness and Mosel acidity balance each other out. Candied lime, lemon zest, and passion fruit define the profile. The gold capsule marks a particularly selected Auslese, here in the handy 0.375-liter bottle.

The grapes grew in the Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr, a slate site on the Middle Mosel. In the 2022 vintage, 30 to 40% of the grapes were affected by botrytis. The Fritz Haag winery in Brauneberg has been considered one of the stalwarts for Mosel Riesling for decades.

In the glass, the botrytis shows its clear side: aromas of candied lime and fresh lemon zest, plus passion fruit, which gives the wine fruity depth. On the palate, the sweetness stands out, while the Riesling acidity keeps it in tension. Serve the wine at 8 to 10 °C. It pairs well with Roquefort or other blue cheese, foie gras, tarte tatin, or apricot cake. You can also pour it on its own as the conclusion to a meal.
