Paternoster Bariliott Aglianico del Vulture DOC
Aglianico from Vulture is not light fare – but the Bariliott shows the more accessible side of this southern Italian grape variety: fruit-driven, immediately drinkable, without the austerity of older vintages.
Paternoster is one of the pioneers of Vulture. The family winery from Barile cultivates volcanic soils at the foot of the extinct Monte Vulture in Basilicata – mineral-rich ash and lapilli soils at an altitude of up to 600 meters. The Bariliott is their entry-level wine: less complex than the Rotondo, but with the same terroir foundation.
In the glass, dark ruby red appears. The nose brings sour cherry, blackberry, and plum, plus a hint of lavender and black pepper – typical for Aglianico from volcanic rock. On the palate, juicy and medium-weight, silky tannins, mineral pull on the finish. Not a wine for eternity, but ready to drink and with nice substance.
- Temperature: 16–17 °C

Paternoster is one of the great names in the southern Italian wine world – rooted in Basilicata, the wild heart of the Italian boot. Here, at the foot of the extinct volcano Monte Vulture, the Aglianico grapes grow on mineral-rich soils, producing wines with depth, structure and unmistakable character.
What has distinguished Paternoster for generations is a consistent connection to the terroir – no trends, no compromises. The wines tell stories of earth, fire, and time.
