Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru "Aux Perdrix"

Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru “Aux Perdrix” — one of the most concentrated sites in the Côte de Nuits, right on the border with Vosne-Romanée. The 2019 vintage shows what a warm, structured year can bring out of this site.

The Domaine des Perdrix belongs to the Devillard family, who have consistently focused the winery on quality over decades. The “Aux Perdrix” site is located in the northern part of the appellation on calcareous clay soil — which explains the combination of power and freshness that distinguishes this wine.

In the glass, it shows ripe dark cherry, rose blossom, and a hint of plum confit. Aging in new oak barrels adds a creamy vanilla note underneath without masking the fruit. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with firmly integrated tannins and lively acidity — the finish is long and spicy.

Best enjoyed with air at the moment. Temperature: 16–17 °C. Pairs well with braised venison saddle, Coq au Vin, or ripe Époisses.

Domaine des Perdrix

Domaine des Perdrix, located in Premeaux-Prissey near Nuits-Saint-Georges in the heart of Burgundy, is a renowned winery known for its first-class Pinot Noir wines. Since 1996, the winery has been owned by the Devillard family, who also operate other prestigious wineries such as Château de Chamirey and Domaine de la Ferté.

Domaine des Perdrix covers 12 hectares of first-class vineyards. The most famous is the Premier Cru "Aux Perdrix," which is almost entirely owned by the winery and is characterized by its complex and deep aromas.

The wines of Domaine des Perdrix are an expression of the region's unique terroir. From careful hand-picking to gentle destemming and long aging in oak barrels – every step is carried out with the utmost precision to create wines of outstanding quality.

The wines typically age for 18 months in oak barrels, with the proportion of new oak varying depending on the wine: 30% for village-level wines, 60% for Premier Crus, and up to 90% for the Grand Crus.
