Mongris Pinot Grigio Collio DOC

Mongris Pinot Grigio Collio DOC
Copper reflections in the glass, floral depth in the bouquet — the Mongris shows what Pinot Grigio can do in the Collio when it is taken seriously.
Marco Felluga is one of the defining names in Friuli. The winery in Gradisca d'Isonzo has been working the hilly sites of the Collio, right on the Slovenian border, for generations. Here, on mineral-rich flysch soils of sandstone and marl, Pinot Grigio grows slowly and develops more substance than in flatter regions. It is no coincidence that the Friulians simply call the grape variety Gris — and gave the wine its name after it.
In the glass, the Mongris shows a rich golden yellow with warm copper tones. On the nose, acacia blossom, broom, and ripe apple, with a mild hint of beeswax underneath. Full-bodied on the palate with a soft acidity structure, no hint of sharpness. The finish is long and slightly spicy.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with Vitello tonnato, grilled sea bream, or risotto with seafood.

Marco Felluga is an Italian winery located in the town of Gradisca d'Isonzo, founded in 1956 by Marco Felluga. The current managing director is his son, Roberto Felluga, a fifth-generation winemaker in the family. Marco Felluga now manages over 100 hectares of vineyards, consisting of sandstone, clay, and marl soils. Thanks to the protection afforded by the Alps, the region enjoys a climate characterized by warm days and cool nights in spring and very mild summers. Each vineyard also possesses its own microclimate, providing ideal conditions for cultivating various grape varieties. These include Pinot Bianco, Moscato Rosa, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and Ribolla Gialla.
