Mea Culpa Vino Rosso "Il Rimorso" - in GK -

This red wine deliberately breaks with convention. Winemaker Mario Minini created the Mea Culpa "Il Rimorso," an unconventional cuvée that transcends regional boundaries. He combines the potential of Sicilian vineyards with the power of Apulia. At its heart are 40- to 50-year-old Primitivo vines from the Alberello vineyard in Salento. Due to the advanced age of the vines and the region's naturally low water levels, yields are low, but the grapes produce an exceptionally concentrated flavor.

The appassimento method ensures the necessary depth: around a third of the hand-picked grapes are dried for 30 days, losing weight and thus concentrating the extract. After gentle maceration, the wine matures for six months in French oak barrels. In the glass, it displays intense aromas of dark berries and violets. On the palate, a full-bodied character unfolds with distinct notes of tobacco and vanilla. Thanks to precise extraction, harsh tannins are avoided; the tannins are soft and lead to a long, rich finish.

A powerful companion for intense dishes. Serve this wine at 16 to 18 °C with braised beef shoulder, venison ragout with dark chocolate, or aged Pecorino cheese. The included gift box also makes it a thoughtful present for lovers of opulent, southern Italian red wines.

Mea Culpa

Minini – Lombard roots, Apulian passion. The family has dedicated itself to winemaking since the 1920s. In Apulia-Salento, Mario Minini created Mea Culpa – the attempt to create the "perfect wine." The idea: to combine grapes from Sicily and Apulia. Approximately 35 percent undergo the appassimento method – 30 days of air drying, resulting in a one-third weight loss. The wine then matures for six to seven months in French oak. The result: elegant, modern, high-quality wines that hold their own on the international market. Today, they are popular worldwide. Apulia, as it tastes.
