Mattera DOC
The Mattera DOC from Galiardi is a mineral-driven white wine that draws its character directly from the soil – sandstone, limestone and clay leave an unmistakable signature in the glass.
Galiardi consistently employs hand-harvesting and selection in the vineyard. The careful selection of grapes on-site is not a marketing promise, but a prerequisite for the precision this wine displays in the glass.
On the palate, the Mattera presents a cool minerality at the forefront – a salty, almost chalky note reminiscent of the limestone bedrock. This is complemented by bright fruit, a lively acidity, and a dry, straightforward finish without any soft, indulgent notes.
At the table, it shines alongside robust fish dishes – monkfish in saffron sauce, grilled sea bass, or a salt cod stew. It also pairs well with light meats such as veal medallions with herbs. For those who enjoy mature cheeses: a young Pecorino or a mild goat cheese are excellent choices. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
Galiardi – that means gentle hills, clay soils and a family who cultivate their piece of land in Montefeltro with genuine care.
On 13 hectares of vineyards, both native and international grape varieties thrive. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the wines are crafted using traditional methods. The result is elegant DOC and IGT wines that make their origin palpable in every sip – understated yet full of character.
The entire operation is organic. At Galiardi, this isn't a marketing message, but a lived conviction – for generations.
