Magari Bolgheri DOC 0.75L

The Magari is the entry into the world of Ca'Marcanda — and it makes this world immediately understandable: structured, dark-fruited, with the elegance of the Maremma in the glass.

Ca'Marcanda is the Tuscan project of Angelo Gaja, who built the winery in 1996 in Bolgheri — a coastal region that offers ideal conditions for international grape varieties like Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The name Ca'Marcanda means something like "House of Long Negotiations" in Piedmontese — an allusion to the tough property negotiations that preceded the project. Today, the estate is one of the most well-known addresses of the Bolgheri DOC.

In the glass, the Magari shows a deep purple red. On the nose, it opens with plum, black currant, and a hint of graphite. On the palate, the Cabernet Franc contributes a fresh herbal line — bay leaf, a touch of bell pepper — that enlivens the dark fruit profile. The tannins are present but not coarse, the finish medium-long and spicy.

Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised lamb shoulder with rosemary, or mature Pecorino Toscano.
