Etichetta Nera Gavi dei Gavi® DOCG Magnum 1.5L

The Gavi dei Gavi Etichetta Nera from La Scolca is the benchmark against which other Gavis are measured – concentrated, yet of remarkable finesse and with genuine aging potential.

For decades, La Scolca has been cultivating the high-altitude vineyards around Rovereto in the southern Piedmont, the core area of the Gavi DOCG. This black-label cuvée comes from old vines with particularly low yields – the berries provide a correspondingly dense aromatic profile while maintaining the lean structure characteristic of the Cortese grape.

In the glass, it displays green pear, ripe citrus zest, and a hint of white flowers. The acidity is precise without being sharp, and the finish is salty-mineral and long. What distinguishes it from many other Gavis is that it has enough depth to continue maturing after several years in the cellar – drinking window until 2030.

Served chilled at 10–12 °C, it pairs well with langoustines in beurre blanc, steamed clams, or a simple grilled sea bass with lemon. It is also a safe choice with mild burrata or Risi e Bisi.
