Kyrö Malt Peat Smoke

The Kyrö Malt Peat Smoke is a Finnish rye whisky with a clear smoky character — an unusual combination that the Kyrö Distillery from the small town of Isokyrö in Ostrobothnia implements with a great deal of stubbornness.

Kyrö works exclusively with Finnish rye, which gives the distillate a natural spice and a softer texture than classic barley whiskies. For the Peat Smoke, peated malt is added, combining the graininess typical of Kyrö with a distinct layer of smoke. The distillery is known for artisanal distillation in small copper pot stills and a style that pairs Scandinavian sobriety with genuine depth of craftsmanship.

In the glass, peat and smoke appear, underpinned by rye spice, a hint of caramel, and dry grain notes. The finish is long, slightly salty, and remains smoky-spicy without being overwhelming. The texture is oily and round — a characteristic of rye.
