Cherry brandy matured in a cognac barrel
Cherry brandy meets cognac cask — the result is a fruit brandy that goes far beyond classic fruit brandies. The Birkenhof distillery in the Eifel region combines traditional craftsmanship with an unusual aging process: ripe cherries are distilled and then aged in former cognac casks. The wood gives the brandy structure and depth without masking the fruit.
In the glass, it reveals aromas of dark cherry, marzipan, and a hint of vanilla imparted by the cognac casks. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with lingering fruit. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C , neat in a digestif glass—no ice, no mixer.
Ideal after an evening with robust red wines from Burgundy or the Palatinate. Also pairs well with dark chocolate (70% or higher) or mature soft cheeses such as Époisses.
