Spiced Rum
A spiced rum from the Westerwald region — the Birkenhof distillery brings its distilling expertise to a Caribbean-inspired category. The family-run business from Nistertal is primarily known for its grain spirits and whisky distillates, but applies the same meticulous care to this spiced rum.
The glass reveals the typical spiced rum aromas: vanilla and caramel as a base, accompanied by spice notes such as cinnamon and clove, reflecting the distillery's characteristic precision. The finish is warm and smooth, with a pleasant sweetness that is not overpowering.
It unfolds its spiciness best neat over ice — served slightly chilled at 16–18 °C . It also makes a good base for a simple Rum & Coke or a Dark Stormy with ginger beer. Those who use it in the kitchen will find it a useful ingredient for Christmas cookies or caramelized desserts.
