Karl May Osthofen Pinot Gris dry
A Pinot Gris that shows what the loess soils of Rheinhessen can do: intense fruit, supported by a fine spiciness from the oak aging.
The Karl May winery operates in Osthofen, one of the oldest winegrowing villages in Rheinhessen. The vineyard's location on calcareous loess soil gives the Pinot Gris its characteristic density—enough minerality to support the fruit, enough substance for oak aging. A 90-point rating from James Suckling confirms the wine's international appeal.
In the glass, it displays ripe pear and light peach, underpinned by a creamy texture and subtle oak spice on the finish. The acidity keeps the richness in balance—not a heavy wine, but with a clearly noticeable body.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with pike-perch fillet with butter sauce, creamy risotto, or mild mountain cheese. It also complements Asian dishes with white meat. Drinking window: now until 2026.
