JJ Prüm Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese

A Spätlese from J.J. Prüm is not a simple drinking wine — it is a historical document. The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr is one of the classic Mosel sites whose slate shapes the Riesling with this unmistakable tension between sweetness and acidity.

The J.J. Prüm winery in Wehlen has been one of the reference addresses of the Middle Mosel for generations. Manfred Prüm and today his daughter Katharina vinify the Spätlese wines traditionally: long fermentation at cool temperatures, aging in large wooden barrels, no intervention that masks the origin.

In the glass, the Sonnenuhr Spätlese shows restrained aromas of white peach, lemon balm, and a hint of herbal spice — all embedded in a delicate slate minerality. On the palate, a lively acidity carries the residual sweetness without either pole dominating. The finish is long, cool, slightly salty.

Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Pairs well with Asian cuisine with coconut milk, mild goat cheese, or trout blue — or simply on its own as a summer evening wine.
