JJ Prüm Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese

A Spätlese from JJ Prüm is not just a simple drinking wine—it's a document of its time. The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr vineyard is one of the classic Mosel sites, whose slate soil imparts its distinctive tension between sweetness and acidity to the Riesling.

The JJ Prüm winery in Wehlen has been one of the leading wineries in the Middle Moselle region for generations. Manfred Prüm, and now his daughter Katharina, vinify their late harvest wines using traditional methods: long fermentation at cool temperatures, aging in large wooden barrels, and no intervention that masks the origin.

In the glass, the Sonnenuhr Spätlese displays restrained aromas of white peach, lemon balm, and a hint of herbal spice—all interwoven with a delicate slate minerality. On the palate, a lively acidity supports the residual sweetness without either dominating. The finish is long, cool, and slightly salty.

Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Drinking window: now until 2035+. Pairs well with Asian cuisine with coconut milk, mild goat cheese, or trout poached in court bouillon — or simply on its own as a summer evening wine.
