Hundsrück Spätburgunder GG
The Hundsrück is considered the flagship of Rudolf Fürst – and has been for centuries: The history of this vineyard dates back to the early 16th century.
The Fürst winery in Bürgstadt am Main is one of the most important producers of Pinot Noir in Germany. Paul Fürst made Franconian Pinot Noir internationally renowned, and his son Sebastian continues to run the winery in his spirit. Their most important vineyard is the Hunsrück: barren, rocky, with weathered sandstone soil that gives the wine its characteristic minerality and cool precision.
In the glass, this Grand Cru displays aromas of sour cherry and wild roses, underpinned by a delicate, spicy undergrowth. The acidity is crisp and invigorating, the tannins silky and well-integrated – not a powerhouse, but a wine of quiet depth. The finish is long, cool, and characterized by a noble Burgundian perfume reminiscent of the great Côte de Nuits vineyards.
- Food pairing: Venison fillet, duck breast with cherry sauce, mature Comté cheese
- Serving temperature: 16–17 °C
- Drinking window: Now until 2033+
