Pinot Gris

A Pinot Gris that shows what the grape variety can do when you don't give it too much wood and too much extract: clear, precise, with a real drinkability.

Kranz winery is one of the reliable addresses for straightforward white wines — vinified with meticulous craftsmanship, without any gimmicks.

The nose offers aromas of freshly peeled stone fruit, pastries, and light blossoms. On the palate, the wine is delicately juicy and vibrant: orange zest and stone fruit meet a pronounced saline minerality. The body is firm, powerful, and structured—a touch of extract sweetness provides balance without compromising its linearity. The finish is slightly tart and astringent, with invigorating fruit and a renewed saline minerality.

Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with pike-perch fillet with butter sauce, goat cheese tart, or seared scallops with lemon butter. Also excellent as an aperitif—its lively acidity whets the appetite.

Kranz

VDP Member Estate

The Kranz winery in Ilbesheim on the Southern Wine Route is run by the fourth generation of the winemaking family, guided by the motto: "Craftsmanship, Origin, Attitude". Admitted to the VDP in 2012, it is now one of the most distinguished producers in the Palatinate.

Boris Kranz, who has run the winery since 1990, cultivates 25 hectares of vineyards around the Kleine Kalmit mountain – 100 percent organically. Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc each account for a quarter of the area, complemented by Chardonnay and other varieties.

The wines are straightforward, age-worthy, and distinctive. From the delicate Riesling to the juicy Pinot Blanc and the crisp Pinot Noir – here speaks the signature of a winemaker who prioritizes precision and terroir. A true example of modern Palatinate winemaking.
