The Kranz winery in Ilbesheim on the Southern Wine Route is run by the fourth generation of the winemaking family, guided by the motto: "Craftsmanship, Origin, Attitude". Admitted to the VDP in 2012, it is now one of the most distinguished producers in the Palatinate.
Boris Kranz, who has run the winery since 1990, cultivates 25 hectares of vineyards around the Kleine Kalmit mountain – 100 percent organically. Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc each account for a quarter of the area, complemented by Chardonnay and other varieties.
The wines are straightforward, age-worthy, and distinctive. From the delicate Riesling to the juicy Pinot Blanc and the crisp Pinot Noir – here speaks the signature of a winemaker who prioritizes precision and terroir. A true example of modern Palatinate winemaking.

Kranz Winery is located in Ilbesheim on the Southern Wine Route – one of the quiet but serious centers of Palatinate winemaking. Boris Kranz has run the estate since 1990, representing the fourth generation of his family to do so, and has been a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) since 2012. The 25 hectares of vineyards surrounding the Kleine Kalmit hill are all organically cultivated: no compromises, no exceptions.
The grape varieties reflect the estate's philosophy: Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc each occupy a quarter of the vineyard area, complemented by Chardonnay. The terroir of the Kleine Kalmit – limestone, marl, and sheltered locations – imparts a tension to the wines that can be felt in the glass: the Riesling is delicate and precise, the Pinot Blanc juicy with substance, and the Pinot Noir firm and long-lasting.
