Glaetzer Amon - Ra

As king of all gods, Amon Ra is the most influential figure in Egyptian mythology. The temple of Amon Ra was recorded in writing as the birthplace of commercial winemaking, as it included the first vineyard planted, which was used especially for wine cultivation by the temple workers.

The Amon Ra Shiraz has a dense purple-red color. Besides fruity notes, the nose shows distinct spicy aromas. The Shiraz from Ben Glaetzer is refined, opulent, and yet seamlessly elegant. It possesses an aging potential of between twelve and eighteen years.

The Glaetzers are among the oldest winemaking families in Australia and have dedicated themselves to small, ultimately fine wines. Super premium wines with distinct terroir character in strictly limited quantities are the impressive result. The noble Shiraz grape was already imported to Australia in 1837 from France, where it is called Syrah.

Amon-Ra is produced from 50-130-year-old vines. The yield is vanishingly low at 12 hectoliters per hectare. Internationally common for top wines is 50 hectoliters/hectare. It matures for 16 months in new barriques, 90% French and 10% American oak, and is bottled unfiltered.
