Glaetzer Amon - Ra

As king of all gods, Amon Ra is the most influential figure in Egyptian mythology. The Temple of Amon Ra was documented as the birthplace of commercial winemaking, as it encompassed the first established vineyard, which was primarily used for cultivating wine by the temple workers. The Amon Ra Shiraz has a deep, purplish-red color. The nose reveals distinct spicy aromas alongside fruity notes. Ben Glaetzer's Shiraz is refined, opulent, yet seamlessly elegant. It has an aging potential of twelve to eighteen years. The Glaetzer family is among the oldest winemaking families in Australia and has dedicated itself to producing small, exquisite wines. Super-premium wines with pronounced terroir character, produced in strictly limited quantities, are the impressive result. The noble Shiraz grape was imported to Australia from France, where it is called Syrah, as early as 1837. Amon Ra is produced from vines between 50 and 130 years old. The yield is remarkably low at 12 hectoliters per hectare. The international standard for top wines is 50 hectoliters per hectare. It matures for 16 months in new barriques (90% French and 10% American oak) and is bottled unfiltered.

His wines come from Ebenezer, a small sub-region in the northern Barossa. Here, ancient vines with exceptional depth of flavor thrive. The result: Shiraz with juicy plum and dark chocolate notes – powerful yet elegant. From the approachable Wallace to the iconic Amon-Ra: Small winery, highest standards, distinctive character. Barossa as it should be.
