Gewürztraminer Cuvée Anne Sélection Grains Nobles AC Alsace - luscious

A cuvée for special moments: This luscious Gewürztraminer from Alsace combines density and sweetness with lively freshness. The grapes come from the Grand Cru Kessler and were hand-picked.

The Domaines Schlumberger are among the well-known wineries of Alsace. For the Sélection de Grains Nobles, the grapes are picked several weeks after the regular harvest. They are then overripe and characterized by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which concentrates the juice.

In the glass, the wine glows golden yellow with green reflections. On the nose, peach, quince, and apricot meet mango, passion fruit, and banana, accompanied by rose, ginger, and saffron. On the palate, it is dense and silky; the sweetness gains tension through the freshness. The long finish fades out with a fine bitter note.

Recommendation: Serve it at 8 to 10 °C with foie gras, ripe blue cheese, or apricot tart. It also works solo as the conclusion of a long dinner.

The Domaine

Domaines Schlumberger

Domaines Schlumberger from Guebwiller in the southern Alsace has been family-owned since 1810 and is one of the most important wineries in France. Today, the seventh generation runs the house: Séverine and Thomas Schlumberger manage around 140 hectares of vineyards – the largest contiguous AOC winery in Alsace, 70 hectares of which are in four Grand Cru sites.

On steep slopes with a gradient of up to 50 percent, maintained with draft horses and over 50 kilometers of stone retaining walls, wines with great depth are created. Schlumberger presses only its own grapes and deliberately produces only half of what the law would allow.
