Geltz/Zilliken Zilliken Butterfly semi-dry
The Butterfly feinherb is the accessible entry into the Zilliken range — fruity, lively and yet with the typical Saar minerality in the background.
The Geltz-Zilliken winery in Saarburg is one of the most renowned estates on the Saar. Dorothee Zilliken runs the winery in its fourth generation and consistently focuses on the steep-slope terroir of the Saarburger Rausch vineyard, one of the best slate soils in the region. The Butterfly is the estate wine—approachable in style, but vinified with the same meticulous craftsmanship as the top single-vineyard wines.
In the glass, it displays a pale yellow-green hue. The nose offers aromas of redcurrant, gooseberry, and a hint of white peach, underpinned by subtle lilac notes. On the palate, lively acidity, juicy citrus fruit, and a touch of residual sweetness that supports the fruit without being heavy. A slatey coolness on the finish unmistakably identifies it as a Saar Riesling.
Serving temperature 8–10 °C. Pairs well with Asian grilled chicken with lemongrass, light summer rolls, or spicy vegetable dishes. Also a great, uncomplicated aperitif on the patio. Drink now until 2027.
