Geltz/Zilliken Saarburger Riesling Old Vines dry
Old vines on the Saar River yield more than just grapes—they deliver concentration. The Saarburger Riesling Alte Reben trocken from Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken demonstrates precisely this: dense minerality, clear structure, and a long finish.
The Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken winery is one of the Saar's leading producers. Based in Saarburg for generations, the Zilliken family cultivates steep slopes of Devonian slate – including the famous Saarburger Rausch vineyard. The old vines penetrate deep into the slate soil, giving the wines depth and vibrancy even in challenging vintages.
In the glass, the wine displays aromas of white peach, citrus peel, and wet slate. The acidity is precise and invigorating without being sharp—typical of the cool Saar vineyards. The finish is salty and mineral with a hint of dried herbs.
