Geltz/Zilliken Saarburger Rausch Spätlese

The Saarburger Rausch Spätlese from Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken comes from one of the great Riesling sites of the Saar — steep, rich in slate, with long hours of sunshine and cool nights, which shape the acidity and extract equally.

The Geltz-Zilliken winery has been one of the Saar's premier wineries for generations. Their Rausch vineyard above Saarburg is considered a prime example of what distinguishes Saar Riesling from Mosel Riesling: more tension, more vibrancy, a cool minerality reminiscent of wet slate.

On the nose, this late harvest wine displays peach and apricot alongside a hint of jasmine and delicate citrus peel. On the palate, the sweetness supports the acidity—not a contradiction, but a balance that the vineyard delivers year after year. The finish is long, salty-mineral, with a slight lingering quality that leaves you wanting more.

Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Drinking window: now until 2035+. Pairs well with spicy Asian dishes, blue cheese, or neat as an aperitif on a long summer evening.
