Elodie Chenin Blanc

Elodie Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc is South Africa's most characterful white grape variety — and the Western Cape is one of the most exciting growing regions for it worldwide. The Atlantic influence, cool nights, and well-structured soils between the coast and the mountains create conditions under which Chenin Blanc can show its full range: from taut and mineral to complex and profound.
The Elodie Chenin Blanc presents itself dry and clearly structured. In the nose, it opens with aromas of yellow apple, quince, and fresh pear, plus a hint of ginger and white blossoms. On the palate, it shows a lively, well-integrated acidity that gives the wine pull and length without appearing sharp. The finish is mineral with a slightly salty note — typical for well-situated vineyards in the Western Cape, where the sea air keeps the fruit in balance.
Served at 10–12 °C, it unfolds its aroma profile best. In the kitchen, it goes excellently with fried cod or sea bass with herb butter, with chicken in lemon-white wine sauce, or with fresh goat cheese with honey. Those who drink it as an aperitif are also right — uncomplicated in the entry, but with enough depth to not let the glass empty too quickly.
