Château Pédesclaux 5ème Grand Cru Classé 0.75L

Pauillac is the epicenter of classic Bordeaux — home to three of the five Premiers Crus, and even the Fifth Growths play in a league that is hard to reach elsewhere. Château Pédesclaux has been part of this circle since the famous 1855 classification and has gained significantly in precision in recent years through extensive investments in the vineyard and cellar.

In the glass, it shows a deep dark ruby red. The nose opens with blackcurrant, cedarwood, and a hint of dried violets — typical for a Pauillac with a portion of Cabernet Franc, which gives the wine a floral line that Cabernet Sauvignon alone does not provide. On the palate, dense but well-integrated tannins, a clear acid structure, and a long, slightly tobacco-spicy finish.

It is best to serve this wine at 17–18 °C, after decanting for at least an hour. It pairs well with rack of lamb with a herb crust, braised beef shoulder, or aged Comté. For those who don't need a grand occasion: a good steak and a quiet evening are perfectly sufficient.
