Château Pédesclaux

Château Pédesclaux is not a château that rests on its laurels. Since the Lorenzetti family took over the Pauillac estate in 2009, a real sense of optimism has been palpable – and it's now reflected in every glass.

As a Grand Cru Classé since 1855, Pédesclaux carries a prestigious name. But instead of resting on its laurels, the family has completely transformed the estate: certified organic viticulture, some plots cultivated biodynamically, and a spectacular new cellar – built entirely using gravity flow to ensure the gentlest possible processing of the grapes. The style? Charming, complex, instantly seductive – anything but the stereotypical image of a strict Pauillac.

Château Pédesclaux Pauillac Grand Cru Classe

Château Pédesclaux —
Pauillac rethought, since 2009

Château Pédesclaux lies in the heart of Pauillac , nestled among the great names of the Médoc — and has itself held one of them since 1855: Grand Cru Classé. The changes since the Lorenzetti family took over in 2009 are noticeable as soon as you pour the first glass.

The Lorenzetti family has fundamentally restructured their winery: certified organic viticulture on all plots, some of which are cultivated biodynamically, and a new winery that operates entirely on the gravity principle. No pumps, no unnecessary machinery—the grapes flow from stage to stage, gently and without pressure. The result is a Pauillac that displays the typical structure of the appellation but is more approachable than many of its neighbors: dark fruit, a delicate cedar note, and tannins that provide structure without being restrictive.

For those who appreciate classic Bordeaux but aren't looking for a wine that requires ten years of patience before opening up, Pédesclaux offers a compelling solution. Their wines pair well with rack of lamb, aged Comté cheese, or a simple steak—and are enjoyable even without a special occasion.
