Château La Mission-Haut-Brion 3er HK

Three vintages of Château La Mission Haut-Brion in a wooden case — for all those who want to follow the development of one of the most significant Pessac-Léognan estates over several years.

The estate is located in the heart of the Graves, less than two kilometers from Haut-Brion, on deep gravel-sand soil. Since the acquisition by the Dillon family (also owners of Haut-Brion) in 1983, both estates have been vinified with identical care: strict hand-harvesting, parcel-by-parcel vinification, long aging in barriques. La Mission is considered the darker, denser brother of Haut-Brion — more structure, more extract, more depth.

In the glass, it typically shows aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, and tobacco, underpinned by cedarwood and a hint of toasted earth. The tannins are precise and firm, the acidity gives the wine backbone, and the finish is long and mineral. Depending on the vintage, the blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc varies — the character line remains constant: concentrated, serious, age-worthy.

Drinking temperature: 17–18 °C. With rack of lamb with a herb crust, aged Comté, or roast wild boar.
