Château La Mission-Haut-Brion 3er HK

Three vintages of Château La Mission Haut-Brion in a wooden box — for anyone who wants to follow the development of one of the most important Pessac-Léognan estates over several years.

The winery lies in the heart of the Graves, less than two kilometers from Haut-Brion, on deep, gravelly sandy soil. Since its acquisition by the Dillon family (who also own Haut-Brion) in 1983, both estates have been vinified with identical care: strict hand-harvesting, parcel-by-parcel vinification, and extended aging in barriques. La Mission is considered the darker, denser sibling of Haut-Brion—more structure, more extract, more depth.

In the glass, typical aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, and tobacco emerge, underpinned by cedarwood and a hint of toasted earth. The tannins are precise and firm, the acidity provides structure, and the finish is long and mineral. The blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc varies from vintage to vintage, but the overall character remains consistent: concentrated, serious, and age-worthy.

Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Drinking window: depends on the vintage, generally 15–25 years from harvest. Pairs well with herb-crusted lamb loin, aged Comté cheese, or wild boar roast.
