Château Gazin Pomerol 6-bottle wooden case

Pomerol is the smallest and perhaps most idiosyncratic appellation in the Bordelais — no classified Château, but wines that speak for themselves. Château Gazin is one of the largest estates in the appellation and is located on the Pomerol plateau, directly next to Pétrus. The heavy, iron-rich clay-loam soil defines the style: full-bodied, velvety, with a density that distinguishes Gazin from many neighbors.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep dark color. On the nose, it opens with red and black fruits — blackberry, plum, a hint of dried cherry — plus tobacco, almond, and dark chocolate. On the palate, the tannins feel ripe and integrated; the mouthfeel is full without seeming heavy. The finish is soft, long, and with a light spice in the aftertaste.

Good with entrecôte with herb butter, braised lamb shank, or mature Mimolette. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Decant for an hour before pouring — this noticeably opens up the aromatics.
