Château Brane-Cantenac Margaux Grand Cru Classé

A beautiful, deep, clear garnet color. On the nose, this wine displays great freshness, with notes of black fruits such as blackberries and delicate hints of white flowers. The nose is complex, with notes of cloves and eucalyptus. On the palate, it is open and generous. The tannins are supple and silky, of high quality. The wine is dense and complex on the palate, with flavors of black fruits, spices, and a touch of menthol for a very pleasing balance. The finish is long, with the characteristic notes of Cabernet Sauvignon, which add a lovely freshness. A true success for this vintage. The wine is produced on 72 hectares in the Margaux AOC, with 30 hectares planted on the No. 4 terrace, which has deep gravel soils. The vines have an average age of 35 years. The 2021 vintage experienced stark contrasts and required considerable effort to overcome the climatic challenges: frost, spring rains, and a dreary summer, followed by a late but intense summer drought. After harvesting, vinification takes place in oak barrels. The wine then matures for 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels. The wine's composition consists of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, and 1% Carmenère.

Château Brane-Cantenac

Château Brane-Cantenac – the soul of Margaux. Since the 17th century, this name has stood for Bordeaux elegance: finesse, complexity, and feminine grace. In 1833, Baron de Brane recognized the terroir's potential, and in 1855 it was awarded the title of Deuxième Grand Cru Classé. Today, Henri Lurton manages the estate – with a scientific background and the Lurton family legacy dating back to 1925. 75 hectares of gravelly soils, 65 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 percent Merlot, and 5 percent Cabernet Franc. Power and elegance in perfect balance. Brane-Cantenac is never loud, but always captivating. Blackberry, violet, truffle – and since 2019, an exceptional white wine as well.
