Château Beausejour Duffau Lagarrosse

The Beauséjour Duffau Lagarrosse 2017 shows what Saint-Émilion can achieve on limestone with Asteria: a dense, complex red wine with real aging potential.

Winery & Origin: Château Beauséjour Duffau Lagarrosse is located in the heart of Saint-Émilion on one of the appellation's finest limestone plateaus. The Asteria limestone soils impart a delicate minerality to the wine, setting it apart from many of its neighbors. The blend comprises 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc —a classic ratio for the Right Bank of the Garonne.

Sensory profile: On the nose, crème de cassis, black raspberry, and dark chocolate, underpinned by fresh herbs and a mineral note. On the palate, medium to full body, velvety tannins from 16–18 months of aging in new French oak barrels , long, spicy finish with a subtle oak note.

Drinking recommendation: Best enjoyed between 2025 and 2034. Serving temperature 16–18 °C, ideally decanted for one hour. Pairs well with braised lamb rump, entrecôte with herb butter, or mature Comté cheese.
