Chardonnay Cuvée Bois Valle d'Aosta DOP

Chardonnay from the Aosta Valley – that means alpine freshness at an altitude of over 900 meters, combined with the weight of a carefully aged barrel wine. The Cuvée Bois from Les Crêtes shows how well both go together.

Les Crêtes is one of the most renowned wineries in the Aosta Valley, one of Italy's smallest and steepest wine regions. The vines grow on terraces at high altitude, surrounded by alpine air and mineral soils – conditions that give the Chardonnay a natural tension that is missing in warmer locations. 11 months of aging in French barriques give the wine structure and depth without masking its origin.

In the glass, it shows banana, candied lemon, and a hint of toasted oak. The texture is dense, the palate finds balance between fruit and spice. The finish is long and powerful – but never heavy.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs with risotto with porcini mushrooms, roasted veal with herb butter, or a mature mountain cheese from the Aosta Valley such as Fontina.
