Chardonnay Cuvée Bois Valle d'Aosta DOP
Chardonnay from the Aosta Valley – that means alpine freshness at over 900 meters altitude, combined with the weight of a carefully aged cask wine. The Cuvée Bois from Les Crêtes shows how well these two qualities complement each other.
Les Crêtes is among the most prestigious wineries in the Aosta Valley, one of Italy's smallest and steepest wine regions. The vines grow on high-altitude terraces, surrounded by alpine air and mineral-rich soils – conditions that impart a natural tension to the Chardonnay that is lacking in warmer locations. Eleven months of aging in French oak barrels give the wine structure and depth without masking its terroir.
The glass reveals aromas of banana, candied lemon, and a hint of toasted oak. The texture is dense, and the palate finds a balance between fruit and spice. The finish is long and powerful – but never heavy.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Pairs well with risotto with porcini mushrooms, roast veal with herb butter, or a mature mountain cheese from the Aosta Valley such as Fontina. Drinking window: now until 2028.
