Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve WO Napa Valley 0.75L

Beringer's Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most famous Napa Valley red wines of all — a wine that combines the power of the region with classic structure.

Beringer is the oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley, founded in 1876 in St. Helena. The Private Reserve is the estate's top bottling and is created from carefully selected parcels in the valley — known for deep, well-drained soils and long, warm growing seasons that bring Cabernet Sauvignon to full ripeness.

In the glass, it shows a deep, dark, almost impenetrable color. The nose opens with blackberry, black currant, and dark plum, along with cedar, vanilla, clove, and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, powerful but well-integrated tannins provide the wine with backbone without closing it off. The finish is long and spicy.

Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs well with ribeye steak, braised leg of lamb, or strong hard cheeses like aged cheddar. If drinking it young, it should be decanted at least an hour beforehand — the drinking window easily extends to 2030.

The Winery

Beringer

The US winery Beringer is located in the state of California in the famous Napa Valley. It was founded in 1875 by the German brothers Friedrich and Jakob Beringer and at that time had an area of 87 hectares. Today, it is managed by Ed Sbragia and Bob Steinhauer, who own 1,200 hectares of vineyards.

The alluvial soils of the Napa Valley are excellently suited as a basis for cultivating vines. For the wines of the Beringer winery, grape varieties such as Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Petite Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, or Chardonnay are cultivated.
