Named after Alexander the Great's warhorse, the Bucephalus is the flagship of Black Stallion Estate Winery — a Napa red wine that prioritizes depth and structure over quick appeal.

Black Stallion Estate Winery is located in Napa Valley, in the southern part of the appellation near Oakville. The region is known for its combination of cool Pacific fog and long, warm afternoons—ideal for slow ripening and concentrated fruit. Bucephalus is a Bordeaux-inspired blend, typically based on Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

In the glass, it displays blackberry and cassis at its core, along with cedarwood, dark chocolate, and coffee bean. The tannins are ripe and firm without being harsh. The acidity keeps the fruit in balance, and the finish is long and spicy, with a hint of lavender.

Best served between 17 and 19 °C , ideally opened or decanted an hour beforehand. Drinking window: now until 2032.
