Bersano Mirage Gavi del Commune di Gavi DOCG

Gavi del Comune di Gavi is the strictest category within the Gavi DOCG — only grapes from the core zone around the village of Gavi itself are allowed to bear the label. The Mirage from Bersano demonstrates what Cortese can achieve in this location: lean, mineral, with a clear acid structure.

Bersano is one of Piedmont's most traditional wineries, cultivating vineyards in Monferrato and the Gavi region. The Mirage is made from Cortese grapes, hand-harvested in September. After 20 days of controlled fermentation at 18°C, the wine matures in stainless steel tanks—a process that deliberately emphasizes freshness and primary fruit.

In the glass, it displays aromas of white peach, lemon zest, and a hint of bitter almond. The acidity is lively, the body lean, the finish mineral and dry with a subtle bitter note—typical of Cortese grown on stony soils.
