Bela Rex QW Burgenland 0.75L
Bela Rex is the great cuvée of the Gesellmann winery from Burgenland — a biodynamic red wine that combines the strengths of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on calcareous soils.
Gesellmann Winery is one of the most renowned wineries in Central Burgenland. Their wines are produced according to biodynamic principles (AT-BIO-402), which is reflected in the meticulous hand-harvesting and natural cultivation practices in the vineyard. The Bela Rex is the estate's flagship wine—named after the family's grandfather, who laid the foundation for the winery as it exists today.
In the glass, a dark ruby garnet with violet reflections. The nose reveals ripe blackberry, blackcurrant, and a hint of cedar, typical of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Merlot contributes plum and a velvety texture to the mid-palate. The tannins are present but well-integrated, the finish long and spicy with a subtle minerality that reflects the calcareous soils.
Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with braised beef, leg of lamb with rosemary, or mature hard cheese. Aging it for a few years will reward you with additional complexity.
