Angerville Meursault Santenots

A white Premier Cru from the house of Angerville — that is a rarity. The Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is deeply rooted in Volnay and is primarily known for its Pinot Noirs. The fact that they produce a white wine at all in the Meursault 1er Cru Santenots is due to the special location: the approximately 0.5-hectare plot is located in the southernmost tip of Meursault, directly on the border with Volnay, on lime- and clay-rich soils with a high marl content.

These soils decisively shape the character of the wine. The Santenots are considered one of the most powerful Premiers Crus of Meursault — less creamy-buttery than a classic Meursault, but more structured and mineral-pronounced. In the glass, ripe yellow pear, citrus peel, and hazelnut appear, underpinned by fine roasted aromas from the barrel aging. On the palate, it appears dense and silky, with a taut acidity line that gives the wine contour. The finish is long, salty, and characterized by clear minerality.

With potential until at least 2034. Serving temperature 12–14 °C. Pairs with lobster with butter sauce, cod on leek vegetables, or aged Comté.
