Alta Langa DOCG Brut 2020

A Piedmontese sparkling wine made from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero that shows why the Alta Langa DOCG is among Italy's most demanding appellations: lots of manual labor, long yeast aging, clear stylistic approach.

Terre del Barolo is one of the most significant cooperatives in Piedmont, founded in 1958 by a group of Barolo winemakers around Castiglione Falletto. The high altitudes of the Alta Langa — often over 500 meters — provide the basis for sparkling wines with natural freshness and structure that are hardly achieved in warmer sites of Piedmont.

In the glass, the 2020 glows light lemon-yellow, the perlage is fine and persistent. On the nose, white peach, dried pineapple, and fresh brioche — a combination that reveals maturity on the lees and good fruit substance. On the palate, animatingly fresh, with cleanly integrated carbonation and a dry, slightly mineral finish.

Classic as an aperitif, but also convincing at the table: white truffle, fresh goat cheese, or aged Parmesan are ideal companions. Serving temperature: 7–9 °C.
