Hennessy has been creating top-quality cognacs since 1765. The descendants of founder Richard Hennessy share the same passion for cognac as their ancestors. For seven generations, the Hennessy family has worked with the Fillioux family as their cellar masters. This long-term approach has allowed them to build up, over the centuries, the world's most unique reserves of eaux-de-vie and an immeasurable wealth of experience. And only with this can they create the exceptional cognacs for which Hennessy is known.

Hennessy —
Cognac from two centuries of family tradition
Hennessy is one of the few spirits houses whose history begins long before industrialization: Founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer in French service, the house has developed into one of the world's best-known producers of distillates in the heart of the Cognac region — without ever abandoning its family continuity.
What distinguishes Hennessy from many other houses is the seven-generation collaboration with the Fillioux family as cellar masters. This partnership continues to shape the style of the cuvées to this day: a deep understanding of maturation, blending, and the characteristics of the individual eaux-de-vie from the various crus of the Cognac area — from the Grande Champagne to the Fins Bois.
In the Hennessy cellars, distillates are stored that are sometimes decades old and serve as the basis for the various bottlings — from the accessible V.S. to limited rarities. Anyone who wants to understand Cognac not just as a digestif, but as an artisanal distillate, will find one of the most reliable references of all at Hennessy.
