Moulis is experiencing a revival. In the mid-20th century, the Theil family reunited the estate and revitalized its reputation. In 2008, Philippe Cuvelier and his son Matthieu took over the property – bringing the talent they had already demonstrated at Château Clos Fourtet. Ambitious, dedicated, with sensitivity and savoir-faire. Supported by a strong team and oenologist Stéphane Derenencourt, they made targeted investments. Their goal: to move from the top of Moulis wines to the top of the Médoc Crus. The first vintage, 2008? A magnificent debut. Poujeaux is back – and now more than ever.

Château Poujeaux is located in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, one of the most compact and characterful crus in the Médoc. The estate boasts a long history, which was reunited by the Theil family in the mid-20th century – piece by piece, parcel by parcel, until the estate's reputation was rebuilt.

In 2008, Philippe Cuvelier and his son Matthieu took over the estate. Both had previously made a name for themselves at Château Clos Fourtet in Saint-Émilion and brought this expertise with them to Moulis. Together with oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt – known for precise, terroir-driven work in both the cellar and the vineyard – they made targeted investments in the vineyard and winemaking. The goal was clearly defined: not only to be at the top of Moulis, but among the best crus of the entire Médoc.

The first vintage under new management, 2008, immediately showed the direction things were headed: structured, with the typical depth of the Moulis terroir, but with more precision and freshness than before. Anyone who has followed Poujeaux's development will recognize a winery that is consistently refining its style – without abandoning the classic Médoc character.
