Château Pouget

Château Pouget boasts a history spanning almost 400 years. Founded around 1650 in Cantenac, in the Margaux wine region of Bordeaux, it has held the classification of Quatrième Grand Cru Classé since 1855. With an area of only 28 hectares, it is one of the smaller wineries. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the wines are aged in barriques for 12 to 18 months. This extended barrel aging eliminates the need for filtration, which enhances the wine's richness of flavor.

Château Pouget is located in Cantenac, in the heart of the Margaux appellation, and has been a member of the Quatrièmes Grands Crus Classés since the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. With just 28 hectares, the estate is one of the smaller properties in the Médoc—a fact reflected in the meticulous care given to each individual plot.

The history of the winery dates back to around 1650. Over the centuries, Château Pouget has refined its style: grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, and the wines mature for 12 to 18 months in barriques. Filtration is deliberately omitted—the long barrel aging clarifies the wines naturally and preserves their rich flavor.

In the glass, these wines display the typical elegance of the appellation: fine tannin structure, dark berry fruit, and a hint of cedar. A classic accompaniment to rack of lamb, duck breast, or aged hard cheeses from southwestern France.
