Winemaker and CEO Axel Heinz focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon from gravelly soils – the classic Margaux style that combines charm and depth. An exciting discovery: Deep blue clay veins on the La Côte inspired a new Merlot with its own distinct character. Lascombes impressively demonstrates just how vibrant Bordeaux can be.

Château Lascombes is one of the most renowned estates in the Margaux appellation – classified in 1855, and now under new management. Since 2022, the Lawrence family has been running the winery, with Axel Heinz at the helm as winemaker and CEO. His approach: back to the historic terroir, away from compromises.

The soils speak for themselves. Gravelly layers provide the foundation for Cabernet Sauvignon with the typical Margaux charm: fine tannins, floral notes, and a depth that only fully unfolds with age. A special feature of the estate is the deep blue clay veins on the La Côte parcel – these inspired a distinctive Merlot that clearly stands out from classic Bordeaux Merlot.
