Chateau Francs Magnus

Arnaud Roux-Oulié took over Château Carlmagnus at the age of 20 and planted two hectares of vines around his estate. The estate's name was inspired by Emperor Charlemagne, who stayed in the region and built a fortress. Since then, the château has become one of the jewels of Fronsac and enjoys international acclaim. In 2011, Arnaud acquired a new vineyard, Francs-Magnus (Bordeaux Supérieur). With his 2020 vintage, he vinified new vintages using organic farming methods for both Château Carlmagnus and Francs-Magnus. The winemaker's ambitions for his vineyards don't stop there. Many new products will be launched soon.

Arnaud Roux-Oulié took over Château Carlmagnus at just 20 years old—and promptly planted two hectares of vines around his estate. In 2011, Arnaud expanded his project with a second estate: Francs-Magnus, classified as Bordeaux Supérieur. Two properties, one style. With the 2020 vintage, he converted both estates to organic farming—not a marketing promise, but a decision that is evident in the vineyard and in the glass: less intervention, more expression of the terroir.

The wines of Chateau Francs Magnus represent a modern Bordeaux style away from the major appellations: accessible in price, clear in origin, with the ambition of a winemaker who is far from finished.
