This gem lies in the heart of the Saint-Émilion limestone plateau, where the ground still contains starfish fossils. In 1787, a general christened the estate Beau-Séjour – "beautiful abode".
The Bécot family has managed the estate since 1969. A bold expansion of the vineyards led to the brief loss of Premier Grand Cru status in 1985, but in 1996 the family triumphantly regained their place among the elite of the Bordeaux classification.
Today, Juliette Bécot and Julien Barthe safeguard the legacy. Their Merlot and Cabernet Franc wines are powerful, elegant, and possess a mineral freshness that only this magical limestone soil can bestow.

In the middle of the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion lies Château Beau-Séjour Bécot — named in 1787 by a general who simply called the estate a “beautiful stay.” Under the soil: fossils of starfish, witnesses to a prehistoric seabed that gives the terroir its unmistakable mineral depth.
Since 1969, the estate has been in the hands of the Bécot family. A bold expansion of the vineyards temporarily cost them their Premier Grand Cru status in 1985 — but in 1996, rehabilitation followed through the official Bordeaux classification. Today, Juliette Bécot and Julien Barthe continue the legacy with the same demand for precision and patience that the plateau requires.
The wines are based on Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged with the goal of making the tension between fruit and limestone audible: powerful in body, yet fresh and structured in the finish. Classic companions to entrecôte, rack of lamb, or aged Comté.
