Bodegas Alión was established in 1991 as an independent project of the Vega-Sicilia family — with the goal of redefining the possibilities of Tempranillo in the Ribera del Duero. The winery is located in the heart of Castile, on the high plateau between Valladolid and Soria, where the vines at over 800 meters altitude must cope with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night. These exact conditions shape the character of the wines: concentrated fruit, lively acidity, firm tannin.

In the cellar, Alión works with French oak barrels and long aging periods — not a concession to quick drinkability, but a clear commitment to aging potential. The wines need time to open up and reward patience with depth: dark berries, cedar wood, a hint of dried herbs from the Castilian plateau. Those looking for Tempranillo at an international level, without copying the style of Vega Sicilia, will find an independent answer in Alión.
