Alion Magnum in 1-bottle wooden case

The Alión 2022 from Ribera del Duero shows how powerful and at the same time precise Tempranillo from Castile can be – dense in body, but with a vibrancy that distinguishes it from heavier interpretations of this region.

Bodegas Alión belongs to the Vega-Sicilia group and was founded in 1991 to develop an independent style: less traditional-rustic severity, more freshness and accessibility while maintaining depth. The grapes come from the heart of the Ribera del Duero, where the extreme temperature differences between day and night ensure aromatic clarity and natural acidity structure.

In the glass, the 2022 shows dark blackberry, plum, and a fine spice of licorice and tobacco. The wood is noticeable but integrated – it frames the fruit without covering it up. On the palate, it feels juicy and dense, the tannins are ripe and velvety, the finish long and carried by a fresh, invigorating line of acidity.

The magnum bottle is ideal for a special evening with others: the larger volume matures more slowly and evenly, which gives the wine additional depth. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. At the table, it pairs with leg of lamb with a herb crust, Iberico pork roast, or a ripe Manchego.
