Wynn's Coonawarra Estate The Gables

Wynn's Coonawarra Estate The Gables
Coonawarra is Australia's most famous address for Cabernet Sauvignon — and Wynns is the winery that has shaped this region for decades. The Gables is the accessible entry into the assortment: a red wine that shows the typical Coonawarra signature without demanding patience.
Wynns Coonawarra Estate was founded in 1951 and today manages around 1,100 hectares on the characteristic Terra Rossa — a narrow strip of red earth over limestone that gives the Cabernet Sauvignon its cool minerality here. The iconic gable houses that give the wine its name have stood on the estate since the beginning.
In the glass, The Gables shows dark berry fruit: blackberry and black cherry, underpinned by a hint of cedar wood and a mild baking spice note from 16 months of aging in French oak as well as in steel tanks. The body is medium-bodied, the tannins are grippy but without harshness — the finish is fresh and straightforward.
