Wynn's Coonawarra Estate The Gables

Coonawarra is Australia's most renowned Cabernet Sauvignon producer — and Wynns is the winery that has shaped the region for decades. The Gables is the accessible entry point to their range: a red wine that showcases the typical Coonawarra style without requiring patience.

Wynns Coonawarra Estate was founded in 1951 and today cultivates around 1,100 hectares on the characteristic Terra Rossa – a narrow strip of red soil over limestone that gives the Cabernet Sauvignon its cool minerality. The iconic gabled houses that give the wine its name have stood on the estate since its beginnings.

In the glass, The Gables displays dark berry fruit: blackberry and black cherry, underpinned by a hint of cedar and a mild baking spice note from 16 months of aging in French oak and stainless steel tanks. The body is medium-bodied, the tannins firm but without harshness—the finish is fresh and straightforward.
