Black Label
The Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra shows why this narrow limestone tongue in the southeast of South Australia is considered the most precise Cabernet address on the continent.
Wynns Coonawarra Estate has been farming vineyards since 1891 on the characteristic Terra Rossa — the bright red iron oxide soil over limestone, which gives the vines controlled stress while providing natural drainage. The Black Label has been the winery's flagship for decades and is one of Australia's most famous Cabernet Sauvignons.
In the glass, it shows dark cassis and blackberry, complemented by cedar wood, dried herbs, and a hint of eucalyptus — the typical Coonawarra profile. The tannins are dense but polished, the acidity gives the wine backbone without sharpness. The finish is long and spicy.
- Food: Leg of lamb with herb crust, beef fillet, or ripe cheddar
