Volnay "Taillepieds" Premier Cru
The Volnay “Taillepieds” Premier Cru from Marquis d'Angerville is one of the style-defining wines of the Côte de Beaune: a Pinot Noir that masters depth and lightness at the same time.
Domaine Marquis d'Angerville in Volnay is one of Burgundy's most trusted estates. The family has cultivated its Premiers Crus independently for generations – a rarity in an appellation dominated by négociants. The Taillepieds vineyard lies in the upper part of the commune, on calcareous weathered soil with a high clay content. This gives the wine structure without sacrificing the silkiness typical of Volnay.
In the glass: Aromas of sour cherry, raspberry, and fresh violets, underpinned by a hint of graphite and dry leaves. On the palate, medium-bodied, with lively, well-integrated acidity and fine, grippy tannins. The finish is long and spicy, with a subtle mineral note.
Drinking window 2026–2035 – preferably wait another two to three years. Serving temperature 15–17 °C.
At the table, it goes well with roast pigeon with lentils , veal kidneys in mustard sauce, or mature Époisses.
