Villa Poggio Salvi Pomona Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Cru

Villa Poggio Salvi Pomona Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Cru
A Brunello with a clear origin identity: The Pomona comes from a single plot of the Villa Poggio Salvi winery in Montalcino — a cru that shows what Sangiovese Grosso can achieve on Tuscan Galestro soil.
Villa Poggio Salvi is located in the southwest of Montalcino, one of the warmest and most ripening-friendly sectors of the Denominazione. The Pomona plot delivers more concentrated grapes than the estate wine — hence the separate vinification and bottling as a cru.
In the glass, the wine shows the classic Brunello profile: sour cherry, pomegranate, dried rose, and an undertone of tobacco and leather. The 30-month aging in Slovenian oak barrels (larger volume than barriques, therefore less wood influence) ensures structure without vanilla dominance. The tannins are dense and firm but need time — the finish is long, slightly spicy, with a mineral vein.
- Temperature: 17–18 °C, ideally decant for 1–2 hours
- Food: Bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar salami, Pecorino stagionato, or braised leg of lamb with rosemary
