Vergelegen Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot give this Vergelegen Cabernet Sauvignon its dark, almost opaque color. On the nose, it reveals beautiful notes of blackcurrants, ripe plums, and spices. Its 24 months of aging in French oak imparts a pleasant oak character, beautifully rounding out this full-bodied, persistent wine. Fermentation at 28-32°C; malolactic fermentation in 225L barrels; aged for 21 months in small French oak barrels, 70% of which are new. Verlegen

The Vergelegen wine estate is located on the South African coast of False Bay, less than an hour from Cape Town. Founded in 1700 by Adriann van der Stell, it is now owned by André van Rensburg. The estate's vines grow at altitudes between 140 and 310 meters, in clay soils. Clay soils are particularly well-suited for vine growth due to their water retention capacity. The climate in this region is characterized by mild temperatures thanks to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The Vergelegen wine estate cultivates grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Chardonnay for its wines.
