Vallocaia Riserva Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Riserva 0.75L

The Vallocaia Riserva is the top position in the cellar of Tenuta Vallocaia — a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG that clearly shows the peculiarities of its place of origin in the glass.

The grapes grow in the Cru Vallocaia in Argiano, a loamy-sandy single site south of Montepulciano. The cuvée consists of 95% Sangiovese (called Prugnolo Gentile here) and 5% Colorino del Valdarno — a traditional Tuscan assemblage that gives the wine structure and color depth. As a Riserva, it meets the stricter requirements of the DOCG: longer aging time, higher minimum requirements for alcohol and extract.

In the glass, a powerful ruby red appears. On the nose, blackberry, dried cherry, and a hint of tobacco, underneath the typical Sangiovese spice of leather and herbs. On the palate, firm but ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long, slightly earthy finish — the profile of a wine with real aging potential.

Serving temperature: 17–18 °C, ideally decanted an hour beforehand. Pairs with braised wild boar, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, or mature Pecorino di Pienza.
