Vallocaia Riserva Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Riserva 0.75L
The Vallocaia Riserva is the top position in the cellar of the Tenuta Vallocaia — a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG that clearly shows the characteristics of its place of origin in the glass.
The grapes grow in the Cru Vallocaia in Argiano, a single vineyard with clay-sandy soils south of Montepulciano. The blend consists of 95% Sangiovese (called Prugnolo Gentile here) and 5% Colorino del Valdarno—a traditional Tuscan blend that gives the wine structure and depth of color. As a Riserva, it meets the stricter requirements of the DOCG: longer aging period and higher minimum alcohol and extract levels.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers blackberry, dried cherry, and a hint of tobacco, underpinned by the typical Sangiovese spice of leather and herbs. On the palate, firm yet ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long, slightly earthy finish—the profile of a wine with genuine aging potential.
Drinking window from now until 2032+. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C , ideally decanted one hour beforehand. Pairs well with braised wild boar, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, or mature Pecorino di Pienza.
