The Struie Shiraz

Ripe and round, with a sumptuous texture and firm tannins; supple aromas of blackcurrants, black olives, pepper, and black cherries; the finish is very long and opulent with sweet tannins and lingering notes of mocha and wood smoke. The Torbreck winery's "Road to Perfection" began in 1994 in the Barossa Valley. The goal: to create exceptional and passionate red and white wines in the Rhône style, reflecting the best of the renowned Australian Barossa Valley's vineyards. A touch of European tradition permeates the vineyards, where classic Rhône grape varieties such as Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvèdre were already being cultivated in 1840. Furthermore, Torbreck invested in some of the most prized sites the Barossa has to offer, such as the historic "Hillside" vineyard in Lyndoch and "The Laird" in the Marananga subregion. To this day, Torbreck's top wines bear their names. The journey is the destination: "We remind ourselves daily that the best Barossa grapes have yet to be harvested and the best Torbreck wines have yet to be made!" says Pete Kight, owner of Torbreck Vintners since 2013. Together with Ian Hongell, head winemaker, and the rest of the team, they live by this mantra in every step of their work – on the rocky road to perfection.
